Blessed be the Lord, Who bears our burdens and carries us day by day, even the God Who is our salvation!  Psalm 68:19, Amplified

Have you ever prayed for something for so long that you convinced yourself that God doesn’t care, that He is tired of you asking and has become indifferent to your pain or longing? This verse says He carries our burdens day by day. Another version says, “He daily bears our burdens.” Daily. It means that you asked yesterday and He heard and began working. He cared yesterday (or when you first asked). And today, He still cares. He is hearing you again today and will once again pick up that burden for you, if you let Him. He will help you today. And tomorrow when you get up, He will help you again. He will carry this burden every day for you, if you will continue to lean on Him, for the rest of your life, if necessary. But the end of the verse says, “God, Who is our salvation.” He doesn’t just carry our burdens; He is breathing new life into these concerns, though we may not see it now.

Lamentations 3 says that God’s mercies are new every morning (verse 23). He doesn’t run out of mercy for your problem and get fed up, exhausted by your continued asking. He doesn’t see you or your burdens as an obligation, an irritation, or an aggravation!

God lovingly walks with us, giving us what we need for that day. My dad used to quote this verse all the time: Deuteronomy 33:25b (KJV) “As thy days, so shall thy strength be.” As long as you have another day, you have all the strength that God can give. Down a few verses it says, (Deuteronomy 33:27, NIV),

“The eternal God is your refuge and underneath are the everlasting arms.” I love that! I’m held, I’m secure, I have a “daily” God Who gives me stability in the ups and downs of life.

A few weeks ago, I was filled with anxiety about a situation that I never saw coming, and I certainly didn’t know the ultimate outcome. I was filled with anxiety. Then I saw a little sign that gave me peace. It said, “Grace enough for today.” Yes! I’m not given God’s grace for the what-ifs (things that haven’t happened yet); I’m given grace for today. I rest in God today. I’m held by the Everlasting Arms today. He carries my burden today. How blessed am I!

*What burden do you carry today? Name it and give it to the Lord in prayer.

Precious Lord, Thank You for Your unrelenting, overwhelming love and for Your commitment to walk with me and to bear my burdens. Thank You that I have You, my Daily God, whose constancy still amazes me. May I learn to let You carry my burdens as I remember I am held by Your everlasting arms. I love You, Lord. Amen.
