The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him. and He delivers them.  Psalm 34:7

Angel Fiorini walked through fire for her children. In July, 2017 Good Housekeeping, there was an article with that title relating the story of a mother and three children awakened at night by blazing heat. Angel Fiorini was sleeping with her two toddlers and knew she had to get them out of the house. Though she was gasping for air, holding screaming children, feeling intense heat, she dragged them to the front yard. Then she realized her 7-year-old was still inside. There was no question in her mind that she would re-enter the blazing inferno that was left of her house. She says, “I knew if I stood outside and did nothing, I would question and regret that for the rest of my life.”

Though she could feel the skin melting off her hands, she fumbled forward groping blindly for her daughter. Miraculously , she located her, and pulled her, crawling, to the front door, where she passed out.

Another miracle: a male nurse who just got off of shift (he had traded with someone) was driving down her road taking someone home. (He had not been down that road for four years.) But at that moment he saw the fire and the toddlers in the yard. Thinking that a mother would not willingly leave them there, except for another child, he chose to enter the house, saying to himself, “If I stand here and do nothing, I couldn’t live with myself.” He miraculously found the mother and child five feet from the front door, only because the daughter moaned at that exact moment. Surprisingly, they lived. Though they have had to recover physically and emotionally, Angel says, “I have so much strength in God. Sometimes I wonder if I need time to mourn all of this, but then that feeling passes. The real thing that matters is that we’re together.”

This story is a reminder to me that whatever “fire” I’m going through, God is with me, and miracles still happen, and though there is suffering, He can rescue and deliver me—and my children!
