Come

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. ²⁹ Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.³⁰ For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30 NLT)

            One word can convict and motivate me for months. “Bless, entrust, rest, remain…” at times all of these words have been the echo in my mind.  “Come” is the word of this season. I keep hearing God whisper, “Come.” Truthfully, this is the same invitation that He has been giving to all.

            There is nothing mysterious about hearing a word from God, because He spoke to us these words in the Bible. We can be sure that God will never contradict His Word, so if we are hearing something contradictory that is not His voice.  However, when we hear a phrase of Scripture, we can start thinking, “what is God trying to tell me through this verse?”

“Come” means that we are joining someone in what they are doing. “Come” is a command, but it is also an invitation.  The gentle strong whisper from God, “Come” brings a precious peace. What is He inviting us to?

            God is inviting us to daily relationship and to join Him in the work that He is doing around us. The word “come” means “I want you in to be part of what I am doing.” This invitation can look different for all of us as we are all living planted in different spots.

Where is He inviting you? What about His invitation is unique to you?

            May we embrace the invitation and respond by joining God in what He is doing.

God,
You invited me to, “Come.” Please show me what this means for me. Show me where You want me to go with You. In Jesus name

Confirmation:

Don’t we all wonder if we are really hearing from God? (Even if we hear a phrase or a word from a Bible verse.) But God in His goodness does not condemn our questions, instead He gives us confirmation. I have heard this word “come” for two or three weeks, yet I was beginning to think, “Is this me or is this God?”  Then this week the sermon was about this word. Come! (Confirmation)
