As soon as all the people saw Jesus, they were overwhelmed with wonder and ran to meet him. (Mark 9:15 The Jesus Bible)

A few times in life have I been “overwhelmed with wonder.” The birth of each child, saying my wedding vows, a moment when God’s peace takes away my worry, when God changes a heart, I can remember being awed. Yet, I doubt these compare with seeing Jesus.

The people were “overwhelmed with wonder” when they saw Jesus. Wonder means “a feeling of surprise mingled with admiration, caused by something beautiful unfamiliar or inexplicable.” (

They were wowed! Immediately, they “ran to meet him!!!”

Do I live overwhelmed by Jesus? Do you? When we commit our lives to Him, the Spirit lives in us. So, we encounter Jesus daily whether we realize it or not. He said, “and surely I am with you always even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20 The Jesus Bible) He is doing life with us.

Secondly, do I run to Him? Do you? Running means urgency or it can mean excitement. Do we rush to be with Jesus?

This verse caused me to reflect on what it might have been like to see Jesus visually, and yet we are promised the Holy Spirit, so we have God with us here. Nothing that we face is too big for Him.

May we be “overwhelmed with wonder” and in our excitement, may we “run to Jesus” constantly.

May I see glimpses of You everywhere instead of being distracted by the world. I want to live awed by Jesus. Remind me throughout the day to live inviting Jesus in to every situation. And may I run to You. In Jesus name
