Giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Ephesians 5:20

I was reading to my granddaughter the story in Luke 17 about the 10 lepers that Jesus healed, and if you remember the story, only one came back and said thank you. But let’s back up. These guys with leprosy couldn’t get near the crowds who were there to see Jesus, so they yelled until He responded. Miraculously, Jesus responded to their cries.  He told them, “Go, show yourselves to the priest.” Now a leper would only do that if he was healed—and at this point, they still had leprosy. But they did it. They started off to see the priest, (just because Jesus said to), and as they went, they were healed!

Great story! I love that they had the faith to believe that Jesus would do what they’d asked, even though they had yet to see it. And the miracle occurred! Their requests to the Lord were answered! Now here’s where you want to bop these guys: only one returned to Jesus to say thank you. One. One out of ten.

The Bible says, “One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked Him…” (Luke 17:15-16) Jesus asked, “Where are the other nine?” No answer.

What is wrong with these guys?! Jesus incredibly, miraculously, heals their bodies, changes their lives, gives them a future they thought they would never have; He restores to them what was lost, and they don’t turn around to say thanks. Why? Are they too excited? Too focused on telling their families? Too busy showing everyone the miracle?

Has God answered a prayer of yours lately? Has He helped you do something you were struggling with? Has He turned a situation around? Met a need? Brought healing to a body or relationship? Have you said thank You?

*Will you praise God right now and give Him thanks?

Giver of all gifts, I thank You. Forgive me for all the times I move on to the next requests without giving You thanks for Your faithfulness to me yesterday. How thoughtless and rude! I give You my gratitude and my love. Amen.
