“Come to me (Jesus), all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Mt. 11:28 NIV)

If you read these posts daily, you might have noticed we have been going through the book of John. This has been part of my own daily devotion. When I was on Young Life staff, the leadership encouraged us to spend time in the Gospels focusing on the person of Jesus. This is so powerful and energizing to our faith!

A practical way of doing this is to read a story about Jesus and put yourself in the story. Because I am not great at sitting still, I set my phone for 3 minutes, close my eyes, and envision the story. This morning, I thought about the feeding of the 5,000. (John 6:1-14)

What did this scene look like? What was the terrain? What did the voice of Jesus sound like? What was He teaching? Did He heal? What about His essence drew such a large crowd? What was it like for the disciples to give out food for all of these people? Where would I be in this story?

Would I be sitting listening?
Would I be playing with my kids while listening?
Would we help the disciples hand out food?

In those three minutes, I encounter Jesus in a deeper way, so much that I had to set my phone for another three minutes. I encourage you to try this:

*Read a story of Jesus in one of the Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John
*Set your phone for 3 minutes
*Invite Jesus in by saying a quick prayer
*Imagine the story of Jesus that you just read
*Where would you be in the story? What would you be doing?
*Keep your journal and pen close if there is something He reveals
*Remember- His Spirit never leads us away from the truth of Scripture

God, show me Jesus. I invite You into my thoughts, feelings, emotions, struggles, moments, dreams, plans, relationships...in Jesus name
