Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then…. Ephesians 6:13-14a
I am a problem solver. That’s good when you need a MacGyver-like response to something that’s going on. I don’t panic or run away; I will help you figure out a solution. However, there are times when God lets me live with unresolved issues, because He is working at a much slower pace than I would like. In those times, I believe that God is moving and answering, but to wait while He works everything together for good can be excruciating. What do I do then? My husband will listen to me go on about how frustrating it is not to be able to “wrap this thing up” so that the situation is in a much better place. He will wait till I stop talking and then say, “Rachel, having done all, stand.”
He’s quoting this verse in Ephesians. When you’ve done everything you know to do. You have prayed, you have spoken as much as wisdom has allowed, you have asked others to pray. You have put it in God’s hands. You have been faithful to do what you can. Then what do you do? Stand. Just stand. Keep standing.
How that looks for me is I choose to believe God, and I rest in Him. And when my mind goes crazy over the “what-ifs” or “what nows,” I say out loud, “It’s in God’s hands. He will do what is best. I trust Him.” It is an act of obedience, a sign of determined faith, to stand, by abiding in Christ as I wait on Him.
If you are in this place today of having done all, then choose to stand. Don’t believe lies. Don’t run to solutions. Don’t let your thoughts run renegade. If you have done all God has told you to do, then stand in His grace and rest in His sovereignty. He will do what needs to be done. He is working when you don’t see His hand. Wait to see the glory of the Lord. Become aware of His presence. He is perfecting everything that concerns you. In His time. In His way.
*In what areas of your life have you already done everything and realize that God is asking you to stand and wait?
God, I cannot see You. I have no idea what to do next. But, as an act of my complete trust in You, I will stand. I will remain faithful and stay in my place until You show me what to do. Teach me how to rejoice even when I cannot see the answers or understand Your timing. I love You. Amen.
