Do I ever feel like God has let me down? When?
Our feelings tell us, “life should be easier, that shouldn’t have happened. Why is life hard? Where is God?”
Life without God is harder. Our souls were created with a God-shaped hole, only Jesus (His Spirit, His love) can fill. We have a choice to resist God, because life is hard and He didn’t do what we asked or we can embrace Him. So many people blame God. Without realizing it we can place false blame on Him for life’s stuff, people’s wrong choices, humanity’s choice of sin… However, God in His goodness promises to help us get through the yuck in life and give us an amazing eternity.
We get to choose what we think about God - we can let our feelings lead us or we can see who He really is by reading the Bible, looking for the great around us, asking a wise believer, and talking to Him.
What do I think about God?
God, when life is hard, I wonder where You are. If I don’t feel like I measure up at times I blame You. Forgive me, I need You to fill my heart, heal my heart, and lead me. In Jesus name
Who can I bless, help, thank, reach out to today?

What is one area in my life that I am doing a good job? _______________________________
Everyone wants to hear, “you are doing a great job!”
Who in my life can I tell that to today?
God gives me one word to embrace at a time. I like the simplicity of a word. One word can apply to every aspect of life. My winter word was “Trust!” I heard this word continually when I wanted to get anxious. Last summer, “Enjoy!” was my word. For me this meant: focus on enjoying the moments and not stressing about the “what ifs, unknowns, worries...” Throughout the day He reminded me to ask myself: Who can I enjoy in this moment? What about life can I embrace right now?
What would change if we all lived in one great word?
I asked a bunch of high school students to come up with a word that would motivate them throughout the school year. This word would motivate them in their walk with God and relationships with others. I was amazed by the responses: “peace, growth, diving deeper, all in, smile, learn, trust...”
What one word can you embrace for a season?
God, whisper a word to me today. May this one word change the way I think about my life. May I choose to think about Your great love for me and may Your big love spill out on others. In Jesus name

Becca Gunyon is the Executive Director of The Way Counseling, where she has counseled middle school, high school, and college students for nineteen years. Her heart’s desire is to share the tender, powerful, loving heart of God with others. Dan and Becca have been married nineteen years and have five children, ages eight to seventeen.
